Spread and rate lock

How pricing works in each trading mode.

In guided buy and sell, the price and any applicable rate-lock component are shown separately before confirmation. Advanced trading uses a live order book.

Two different concepts

Spread and rate lock are different.

Spread is the gap between market buy and sell prices. A rate-lock component is a separate charge that may apply to guided buy or sell.

Two trading modes

Your trading mode determines the pricing mechanism.

Before confirmation, you see the available price information or order details and relevant charges.

Guided buy and sell

Price and rate lock, shown separately.

The transaction price and any rate-lock component that applies are shown as separate items before confirmation.

Applicability and terms for the rate-lock component are set out in the fee schedule.

Advanced trading

Price from the live order book.

Advanced trading uses a live order book. The guided mode's rate-lock component does not apply.

Relevant charges are shown according to the trading terms and action you choose.

Review the details before you continue.

The fees page explains which components may apply. The trading-modes guide helps you choose your route.
